Shashi Tharoor, Author & Former Union Minister, points out how the post independence economic policy followed by India was wrong and led to weakening of the economic system. "I got an opportunity to go to the United States on a scholarship… The day I got my scholarship, I was earning more than my father. But I could only take eight dollars (8$) with me when I left the country… So you can imagine how difficult it was for me to settle in to a new life, in a new campus, in a new country with those restrictions" shares Mr. Tharoor.
