About 25,000 food grain dealers in 60 "mandis" have gone on a indefinite strike, according to reports received at this office of the Punjab Food Grain Dealers Association here today till noon.
The strike is in protest against the enforcement of the rules framed under the Punjab Agricultural Produce Marketing Act. The strike call was issued by the Association yesterday. There are about 40,000 grain dealers in the 126 "mandis" of the State.
Under the Act all dealers and labourers have to be licensed. Moreover the dealers have to maintain several records and use the particular hypes of weighing machines.
