Stories of License Raj contest Guidelines & Rules

GUIDELINES

  1. BACKGROUND & INTRODUCTION:
    Stories of License Raj is an on-line contest organized by Centre for Civil Society under its initiative India Before 1991 in partnership with Facebook.

    This contest will bring to light human interest stories from across the country highlighting the life under the license raj as well as the crucial role that liberalization played in improving the lives of our people. This attempt will not only provide a greater understanding of the long-term impact of liberal policy reforms but also will provide a greater understanding of the long-term impact of liberal policy reforms as well as the value that open markets have and continue to bring into our lives in contemporary times.

  2. ELIGIBILITY:

    1. Who can enter a competition:
      Entrants for this contest have to submit real life stories representing different aspects of life under License Raj (India Before 1991): Agriculture and allied sectors, Economy, Dalits, Export/Import, Film and entertainment, Goods and services, Government employee, Industry, Judiciary/Law, Service Class, Shopkeepers, Tribals, Women and Children, Education, Health. Other experiences related to Indian Economy Before 1991.

    2. Submitting your Entry

      • You can use different formats to share your experience with us: Written, Video, Audio and photographs.

      • The written post/videos can be either in English or Hindi.

    3. How to Participate

      • To enter the contest log on to www.indiabefore91.in

      • Entrants must fill out all required fields on the form and profile in order to participate in the contest.

      • Kindly limit your story/post to maximum 500 words or 5 minute video/audio.

      • Entrants may make multiple submissions, only one winning entry per person.

  3. WINNER SELECTION

    • All eligible entries received during the contest period (May 1, 2016 till June 1, 2016) will be gathered into a database at the end of the contest period.

    • A panel of judges comprising eminent professionals across several spheres will select the winning entries. Selection and management of the panel is at the sole discretion of CCS. The panel of judges will judge the Entry/Entries, and their decision shall be final, binding and non-contestable.

    • CCS shall not be responsible to respond to any feedback, suggestion and/or queries raised by the participant.

    • The winners will be announced on July 10, 2016 or such other date communicated to the participants on www.IndiaBefore91.in

    • Announcement and instructions for prize will be sent via e-mail address provided by the potential prize winner at the time of entry/submission.

    • Each entrant is responsible for monitoring his/her e-mail account for prize notification and any other communication related to this contest.

    • If a potential winner fails to comply with these rules, he/she will be disqualified.

  4. PRIZES

    • 20 best-written entries will be published in a book.

    • 5 top video entries to be a part of a documentary.

    • 5 contributors (Hindi and English) will get a special guest invitation for the event to be held on 22 July at FICCI.

    • Coffee with notable personalities including bureaucrats, politicians and academicians to be offered to top contributors across 5 cities.

    • The prize is as stated and is non-exchangeable and non-transferable. There is no other alternative to the prize in whole or in part.

    • By participating in the contest, you agree that the prize is awarded on an "as is" basis, and that neither CCS nor affiliated partners, make any representations or warranties of any nature with respect to the prize.

DISCLAIMER

By participating, each entrant grants CCS and Facebook the permission to use his/her name, likeness or comments along with content submitted, for print, digital, electronic and any other media without further reference, payment or other compensation. CCS or partners are not liable for any expenses incurred in the research, documentation and production of the materials for the contest or participation in the event.

RULES & REGULATIONS

By participating in the ‘Stories of License Raj’ contest, each entrant agrees to abide by the Rules & Regulations listed below, including all terms and conditions  understanding that the results of the contest, would be determined by CCS which would be final in all respects.Entry/Entries on behalf of another person will not be accepted. Joint submissions are not allowed.

  • Entry/Entries will not be returned to you. Entries once submitted cannot be withdrawn.
  • Entries submitted by any other means will not be accepted: only those submitted via the official method of entry will be accepted. Any illegible, incomplete or fraudulent entries will be rejected.
  • By participating in the contest, CCS is granted the exclusive, indefinite, sub-licensable and unrestricted copyright and any other intellectual property right in the entry/posts in all forms, formats and editions. Participation in the contest is deemed consent to enter into this agreement and as sufficient consideration for the same. To the extent permitted by law, you hereby irrevocably and unconditionally waive all rights in connection with your authorship with respect to the entry.
  • You represent that the information provided by you at the time of entering the contest is correct and true to your knowledge.
  • The Entry/Entries (story as well as the image) should be original and written by you and should not be in public domain nor plagiarized, and it should not have been previously published in any format, website or publication. If it has been published anywhere else, please provide the source, whether the submission would be accepted or not would be the sole discretion of CCS and its partners.
  • The Entry/Entries should not and would not violate or infringe upon any personal or proprietary rights, including without limitation copyrights, trademark rights, trade secret rights, contract rights, privacy rights or publicity rights of any other persons and entities and is not defamatory in its content. The Entry/Entries should not contain any obscene, blasphemous, libelous or any other unlawful material.
  • Any dispute that may be existing or arise in respect of the Entry/Entries (published or unpublished) will be the responsibility of the Participant. CCS shall in no manner be responsible for any legal/other dispute that may be existing/may exist in future in respect of the Entry.
  • Any participant who enters or attempts to enter the contest in a manner, which in CCS’s reasonable determination, is contrary to these terms and conditions or by its nature is unjust to other entrants (including without limitation tampering with the operation of the contest, cheating, hacking, deception or any other unfair practices such as intending to annoy, abuse, threaten or harass any other entrants and/or any of its agents or representatives) may be rejected from the contest at CCS’s sole discretion. Furthermore, where such actions have significantly impaired the contest, CCS may, at its sole discretion, add further stages to the contest as it deems reasonably necessary in order to resolve any problems arising as a result of such actions.
  • The Participant agrees to fully indemnify, defend and hold harmless CCS and their partners in this contest, employees, trustees and representatives from any losses, claims, damages, liabilities, judgments, awards, decrees, settlements or expenses (including without limitation reasonable attorney's fees and court costs) arising from, connected with or by reason of any breach or alleged breach of these terms and conditions.
  • CCS accepts no responsibility for any damage, loss, liabilities, injury or disappointment incurred or suffered by you as a result of entering and participating in the competition or accepting the prize.
  • CCS reserves the right to withdraw or discontinue the contest at any stage and/or change the terms and conditions applicable to the contest for any reason and CCS shall bear no responsibility or liability for cancellation or postponement of the said contest or any change to the terms and conditions applicable to the contest.
  • While participating in the contest, if you share any data (including personal data and/or sensitive personal data or information) or if CCS or their partners have access to such data, you consent that CCS and their partners (and their sub contractors) can use such data for all direct and indirect purposes in relation to the contest. If you do not provide any of the mandatory information requested when entering and taking part in the contest, you may not take part in the contest. Your names and other personal details from your entry to the contest will be collected and stored by CCS in accordance with the applicable privacy policy in place from time to time.
