No Doctrinaire Policy of Nationalisation: Nehru's Address to Consultative Body | 1956

The Prime Minister, Mr. Nehru, said in substance in Delhi on Thursday that the Government did not intend to indulge in any doctrinaire policy of nationalising basic industries in order to promote a socialistic pattern of society.

In point of fact the Government has implicitly accepted the position that neither coal, nor steel, nor mineral oils should be nationalised at least during the second Plan period. On the contrary, the private sector will be substantially expanded in all three industries.
